The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders does not yet recognize sex addiction as a disease; however its occurrence in lives is becoming wide spread in America. Sex addiction is defined as an obsession with sex, including sexual content, thoughts, paraphernalia, conversations, and/or the actual act of intercourse. The life of a sex addict is controlled by his or her obsession. Because many sex addicts are men, it may be just common practice for to state "all men are sex crazed" or "all men love sex." Sex addiction is a very real, very dangerous condition much like any other type of addiction which can negatively impact a person’s life.
Signs of Sex Addiction
Do not feel that just because your husband or wife is a very sexual, virile being that he or she is definitely a sex addict. This could not be any further from the truth. There is a distinction between healthy sexual behavior and destructive sexually-related behavior. Several symptoms of sex addiction included but are not limited to:
Frequent viewership of pornographic material
Frequent masturbation
Frequent cybersex or phone sex
